Jil Sander RTW Fall 2009

Ever since I saw the latest ad campaigns of Jil Sander, I’ve been following her. Her lines and simplistic elegance! Sometimes it’s borderline oddities that would seem more at home in a modern art museum. But you cannot deny that this girl knows her shapes and tailoring. This season is like watching walking art. The classic colors with hints of color and at times, odd shapes suit an elegant modern girl who’s out to stand out in a crowd. Here are some of my favorites:

Jasper Conran RTW Fall 2009

1920s silhouettes reign at Jasper Conran this season. And I adore the the 20s look. It’s cute and provides beautiful lines. Some of his line, however, branched into lingerie wear because I certainly wouldn’t be wearing some of them out! I’d get arrested for indecent exposure! Of course that doesn’t stop me from really enjoying this collection. Makes me wish that I had a little someone to show it off too. haha The shoes make we want go shoe shopping right now. I love the ribbon lace ups.

I love that models are quite diversified this season. However, I dunno if I terribly like the black model here (not to offend anyone!). Possibly she just doesn’t fit the look to me and designers should be choosing her for different looks. idk Or it could be the garish orange lipstick smeared across her lips. They need to do her makeup better.

Gossip Girl/Fashion Magazines

First point of order, GIVE ME BACK GOSSIP GIRL. It has been on a hiatus for about a month now and it’s driving me crazy. Mondays are no longer exciting. The next episode better be like fucking amazing. That’s the least you can do for depriving me of my weekly dose of Chuck Bass. Although since the next episode is about Blair, I’m assuming Chuck will be in the near vicinity. And when I mean near, I mean like there’s gonna be some nooky going on. hahaha I’m not so sure on how I feel about the reunited N/B. It’s weird to see them together since all the characters have grown and changed so much. It’s crazy how much. I guess I will have to wait on bated breath to see how it all unfolds.

Fashion magazines make me happy. I was in a rut for a while cuz I hadn’t bought any March magazines and felt deprived. There was also some issue with certain vendors (the U bookstore lost their supplier) and magazines just weren’t releasing on time like they should be. And I am glad to report that the latest March issues are quite thick. That could mean that there are more ads, but that’s a good thing. That means more exposure for the model featured and that means that magazines are bouncing back from the recession. I was worried about how thin the magazines were getting, especially December/January issues. February didn’t do much better. It’s quite reassuring to see them back to normal thickness. I bought March Elle and Vogue. And god, were they heavy. hahahah This is almost a good complaint. Hopefully things continue on that track and get better.

Beauty Find – Solid perfume

So I’ve been a bit into perfumes lately, particularly Ralph Lauren perfumes, but their prices are a bit outrageous. I’m all for smelling good but throwing a name on the scent does not justify the like 300% mark up. Not to mention that most perfumes have parabens in them; not exactly something that will endear me to them. A Parisian perfumer has just solved my problems. Crazylibellule and the Poppies has designed solid natural perfumes in lipstick sized tubes that can be carried around all day. They’re cute and oh so toteable. Better yet, they’re only $18. You can buy 2 of them for the price of 1 Ralph Lauren Romance 1 oz. How amazing is that? They come in 8 different scents. Click on the link for more info. Personally I’m a fan of the Poule de Luxe Vanilla Pom d’Amour.

Margaret Howell RTW Fall 2009

Momentary hiatus I assure you about my absence for the past 2 days. Crazy shit at home tends to cause it. lol but it’s all good for now. As for Margaret Howell, her collection is the most “ready to wear” I’ve seen yet. It’s tasteful and cute and totally transferable to real life. Also something about knee socks and thigh highs make me happy. *sigh*

Proenza Schouler RTW Fall 2009

Ok forget everything I have said before about love for other designers. While they receive a margin of my love, the boys of Proenza Schouler have been my favorite for quite some time now. They are adorable and make amazing clothes, not to mention bags. They have the talent, personality, charisma, and the clout (especially if they end up inheriting Valentino) to go far. I love your tough girl chic and effortless cool. My hat goes off to you for maintaining your fabulous standards and style throughout this recession.

Lie To Me

Aside from Gossip Girl, I do not follow shows well. However, “Lie To Me” is a wonderful new show that’s just started. Only about 4 episodes in so if you want to catch up now you can! Whoo! hahaha It’s based off a science that is generally 54% accurate in real life. Which isn’t bad considering it’s the science of detecting lies. The lead reminds me of House in demeanor, but he gets to show off his wonderful accent. The rest of the team brings a delightful dynamic to the group as a whole: Dr. Gillian Foster provides the light heartedness with her sweet tooth and to Dr. Cal Lightman’s stoic personality, although I may be imagining that. Eli Loker is hilarious with his practice of “radical honesty,” which basically saying whatever happens to come to mind without any sort of censorship whatsoever. And then there’s, Ria Torres, the newbie to the crew but talented nonetheless. She has a natural knack for it and of course, it utterly gorgeous. It looks like the set up is that she’s to be the protege to Lightman and romantic partner to Eli Loker. Only time will tell…

Anyway, this show is fabulous; a good combination of story and science. The sarcastic humor and edgy drama work in perfect harmony with each other as Cal Lightman and his team works to find the truth in each scenario. I cannot wait to see where the season ends up going.

MaxAzria RTW Fall 2009

I’ve been excited to see MaxAzria ever since I saw some of the ad campaigns with Nastia Liukin. She looked AMAZING with all the lines; the artistic quality of it was gorgeous. Maybe because she’s a gymnist, but the editorials with models who are dancers have the same quality. But enough babbling so now onto the clothes:
