Edge of Forever

Anja Rubik by Max Doyle for Vogue Australia April 2011

The paint splatters that just randomly appear are awesome; they provide just a bit of playfulness to this gorgeously lit sandy editorial.  I love how Vogue Australia essentially places a beach shoot in the middle of the desert.  And the title is lovely; the blurred line of sand and sky really drives that point across.  This is most definitely the beginning of the spring/summer editorials for me.  Not to mention, there is some fantastic use of white space in this.  The light neutral palette is great; actual white would have felt too stark in my opinion.  As a result, Anja stands out in vivid relief against this backdrop.  She always does fabulous desert shoots, but coupled with the acid neon of the Christopher Kane frocks and vibrant paint splatters, she really lights up in this editorial.  And the angles of her body are gorgeous; she has some truly fantastic bone structure.  Love you always Anj.
