Vena Cava Spring 2011

Gorgeous gorgeous coloring.  And the details are just exquisite.  I love the platform shoes (especially the ones for 4 & 8); they just elongate the line and add a little weight to the wonderfully loose dresses.  It seems that we are in for a relaxed spring this season, which will be lovely for those hot days.  The skirts fall so nicely, floating softly around the model’s legs.  I love the rolled choker-like neckline; they seem to be a theme for Vena Cava this season.  It’s all about the dress.

Lovely loose menswear-inspired outfits.  It’s loose yet well tailored.  My own style has really grown into this as of late, and this particularly on point for me.  I love the ease at which one can wear this; it’s all so effortless.  Check out the preview as well.  Just excellent.

Inspiration- NYFW edition

Credit: Vogue.com

Hello darlings!  My year has started once again.  The beginning of Fashion Week always signals the end of summer for me despite not starting university until October and FW displaying Spring fashion.   Inspiration has kinda fallen off in favor of editorials and portrait series hasn’t it?  Sorry about that.  But I thought I’d do a special little NYFW edition (which will probably be updated throughout it).

I just love the texture of clothing.  I touch everything and find out what it’s made out of before anything else.   There’s just something magical about it.

The Art of Seduction

Marike Le Roux by Horst Diekgerdes for UK Harper’s Bazaar October 2010

This editorial just oozes sensuality and not just cuz the title is “The Art of Seduction.”  It most definitely delivers on all accounts.  While it is most definitely a sensual feast, there’s a coolness about Marike that I adore.  She has this innate coolness that she wraps around her like an aura even has she seductively draws the viewer in.  I love that this editorial is a study of contrasts: the slick cool leather vs. girly hotness of lace, the covered up body with the dewy pout and heavy lidded eyes.  The styling for this is on point.  My favorite stylistic moments are shots 1, 4, and 10.  I love it all.

Sounds of Silence

Du Juan by Wee Khim for Nuyou Singapore September 2010

Oh I’ve missed you.  Du Juan is my absolute favorite Asian model.  And while it’s cool that Liu Wen’s been monopolizing the fashion world as of late, I’m so glad for the return of Du Juan.   But I do miss her long hair; the second featured shot strongly echoes of Tao Okamoto (not that that’s a bad thing).  I just want Du to do her and no one else.  She really is gorgeous.  Although, I guess short hair does bring the focus to her face.  That red lip sets off her porcelain skin perfectly.

Du is just so regal.  You’d think I’d get really bored with many shots of her just standing there but I’m totally not.  I do have to admit that I’m quite biased :)

Angel and Devil

Liu Wen by Tiziano Magni for Numéro China September 2010

Liu Wen is on a role.  She landed Estee Lauder and is in many editorials in recent years.  I like the concept to this one.  There’s clearly a devil and clearly an angel feel to the respective shots.  The overexposure totally works with the angel shots; she looks ethereal and pure.   My favorite devil shot would be 11.  The dress is beautiful, and I love that she’s leaning forward.  The devil posing is badass.  This editorial is pure glamour.  The shadows in it are awesome.
