The Lightness of Black

Tiiu Kuik by Alexander Neumann for Harper’s Bazaar Mexico June 2010

Of course I’d like this.   Dance clearly has a relationship with fashion; there’s a gracefulness about it that translates (maybe that’s what helps make models like Karlie Kloss and Coco Rocha so memorable) easily.  I love the hints of dance in this without blatantly making the concept about dance.  While I don’t think she’s a dancer, Tiiu is still able to convey that grace and lightness.  This editorial is aptly named for several reasons.  For one, black can be excellent in summer (without being depressing) although it’s hot out and we should wear more of it because it’s timeless.  Also, dance (ballet and contemporary in particular) has an element of lightness to it. hahaha I think I’ve rambled enough about dance.
