Alana Zimmer by Max Abadian for Flare June 2010
This editorial is so colorful! Highly pigments and suits the surfer chic to a T. It’s interesting how they leave her makeup neutral to balance the riot of color for the cover and then highlight it with orange in the actual shoot. It was a pleasant surprise. As for the shot above, I can’t help be drawn to the turquoise peeking out in her black sneakers. It’s so well done! This entire shoot is eye-catching in general. With the beachy highlighted hair a la Proenz Schouler, the makeup and hair fully complement the sporty outfits. I normally am a fan of classic minimalist tailoring (or possibly romantic neutrals as well), but I can’t help but like this one. I am generally weary of riotous colors, but these are a perfect mesh.
