Long elegantly fluted sheaths reign supreme at Carolina Herrera this season. With mesmerizing prints and pretty pretty details, she provides a rather attractive display of evening wear. Sophisticated design work is hardly new territory for Carolina Herrera, but these sheath gowns feel more put together than the unleashed volume she has shown in seasons past. Moreover, these gowns certainly don’t feel like standard fare with the wide range of detail from a trompe l’oeil effect to the uneven textured skirts. And while the silhouette here is more controlled than usual, there is nothing constrictive about it. The skirt may be leaner, but the fluttering silk organza still flows ever so attractively. Over all, I love Carolina Herrera’s perspective on an autumn palette: from rich navy to “haute” pink, she offers a jewel-toned fall that is scarcely muted.
