Erin Heatherton by Rennio Maifredi for Marie Claire Italia June 2010
It’s a summer shoot but steers clear of being typical. There’s a grittiness about that with an almost warrior-like edge. I like it. Summer shoots are usually languid and airy, which I don’t mind but quickly tire of. This is a nice depart from the norm. I like the wary alertness about this piece as well. It suits the surf as well; Erin looks like she’s about to tackle the waves. Like there’s a bit of a war with nature. Some may think that this is a little photoshopped (coloring especially) but I like it. Shoots don’t to be entirely natural after all. And while I do not like the airbrushing of modeling, I don’t mind color saturation changes. That can make a photo interesting.
